Not going anywhere, so I ran 10 miles then washed the E28. Maybe I should acknowledge my family today as well...

Bumper? That’s a dining room table on the front of that!

I mean, kidding aside that’s a really nice 5. Though if it was mine I’d be very tempted to do a Euro bumper retrofit.
5 mph bumpers grafted onto existing designs rarely looked good. Probably the worst example:

TR6 (1976) : most people hate the overriders but they don’t bother me that much.
XJ6 (1985): wears it pretty well, I think.

Mother of God...
... to be fair, it wasn’t a great looking vehicle to start with...but this looks like it was a joke

I should go for a run...I should also wash my car, but living in a condo, no wash down pad and it seems...irresponsible...to go to a coin op place, for some reason...

I can’t find the picture now, but I recall someone here sharing an older BMW with one of these stickers on the 5 mph bumper:

nope. in ‘73 the regulations said a 5 mph full frontal strike couldn’t damage headlamps or fuel system components, and ‘74 added 5 mph corner strike requirements. Cars like BMWs or the Mercury Comet I posted which had the headlights pushed out to the absolute corners were screwed and needed those extended battering rams. you know, because NHTSA thought the fucking headlights were the most important thing.
At least now we wised up and realized those big chrome battering rams didn’t make cars safer for what mattered (the people inside) and got rid of that stupid regulation.

I’m on the constant lookout for a good deal on euro bumpers. Maybe if I can see the other side of this current situation and find a good deal I’ll bite. I am not a fan of the diving boards.
